What is Nextcloud

Nextcloud is an open-source, self-hosted cloud storage solution that allows users to store, manage, and share their data securely. It provides a wide range of features, making it a popular alternative to commercial cloud services like Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive.

Nextcloud AIO (All-in-One)

Nextcloud AIO provides easy deployment and maintenance with most features included in this one Nextcloud instance. With Alpha3 Cloud's ready-to-go template, the deployment is as easy as ever.

Here are the steps you have to follow after deploying your Alpha3 Cloud's Nextcloud AIO Instance.

⚠️ Important Notes ⚠️

  • Optionally, you can set up DNS for a hostname that you want to use, using the given IP address and open the admin interface at https://nextcloud.yourdomain.com:8443 in order to get the initial password. Alternatively, open the admin interface at https://given.ip.address:8080 in order to get the initial password.

  • Minimal system requirements: When any optional container is enabled, at least 2GB RAM, a dual-core CPU, and 60GB system storage are required. When enabling ClamAV, Nextcloud Talk Recording-server, or Fulltextsearch, at least 3GB RAM are required. For Talk Recording-server, additional 2 vCPUs are required. When enabling everything, at least 5GB RAM and a quad-core CPU are required. Recommended are at least 1GB more RAM than the minimal requirement. For further advice and recommendations, see this documentation here.

Deployment Steps

  • Create your Nextcloud AIO Template

  • Connect to your console

  • Find your Public IP from the Overview Page

  • Open the admin interface

  • Go into your browser and open the admin interface at https://given.ip.address:8080 in order to get the initial password. Proceed to login with the given passphrase.

  • Set up DNS for your domain
To use a domain for your Nextcloud AIO instance, go to your domain provider and create an A Record directing your domain to the specified public IP of your system.

  • Enter your domainType the domain that will be used for your Nextcloud AIO Instance.

  • Download and start all Docker containersBefore doing that, set the timezone for Nextcloud to the one that your users mainly use. You can find it at the bottom of the page. After that, choose the containers of your preference. Note that the template is ready with all the firewall ports required for your instance to work properly, so no extra work is required even if you choose the "Nextcloud Talk" container, for example. Whenever you feel ready, press "Download and start containers" and let it do its thing!

  • Monitor container statusAfter hitting the "Download and start containers" button, you will see the page with the status of the containers.

  • Get your Admin credentialsOnce every container starts running, you will get the Admin credentials on your screen (if not, please reload your page).

  • Your Nextcloud is ready!
